99 Motorsport’s Ryan Astley has confirmed his entry for the 2022 Australian Formula 3 Championship in a full season attack for the title.

Astley is keen to get back to track action with the last 2 seasons heavily interrupted by the Covid pandemic. “The thing I’m looking forward to most is being back on track is just to drive again, it’s been ages since I last drove and just itching to get back to it.” Astley said

Drivers have been using various things to keep themselves in shape and tuned in for a return to the track. “I’ve been keeping myself sharp by training in the gym and cycling, also jumping on the sim with Thomas Randle.” Astley added.

99 Motorsport will be looking forward to having a good season of running in 2022 to further develop their Dallara F308/11, with the team upgrading to the chassis ahead of the 2020 Championship which was subsequently cancelled. 2021 was very limited with the amount of running teams were able to do with only the one round being completed before a raft of border restrictions and lockdowns.

All of the downtime has not made Astley any less hungry to achieve in 2022 with one clear goal for the season ahead. “My goal for this year is to win the championship, and to have a good, fun year.” Astley said.

The 2022 Championship commences in a little over 4 weeks time at Sydney Motorsport Park which will include Australian Formula 3’s first ever night races.
