Australian F1 hopefuls Oscar Piastri and Alex Peroni have impressed on the world stage, taking a memorable one-two in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in Barcelona on the weekend.

The nineteen-year-old Renault Sport Academy driver, Piastri, won the second race in Spain after a blistering start from fifth on the grid to be first by the fourth turn of the opening lap. Piastri controlled the remainder of the race either side of the safety car to take his second win of the season.

Young Tasmania Peroni had a similiarly impressive start jumping into the lead at turn 1 before he and Piastri went side by side through turn 3 before Piastri took the upper hand.

2017 Australian Formula 3 Champion Calan Williams had a similarly impressive race after starting down the field in 26th following a difficult Saturday. Williams climbed to 14th by chequered flag with some impressive outside moves going into turn 1.

There was a brief safety car mid race which closed the gap at the front, but Piastri didnít put a foot wrong, winning the race by just over a second ahead of Peroni, who claimed his best F3 result and third podium of the season.

Piastri remains one of the favourites for the title with only a few rounds remaining only 1 point behind the championship leader. Peroni is currently 8th in the stadings.
