The Australian Formula 3 Championship will return to Sandown Raceway for the first time in 5 years in a revised 2020 Calendar due the Covid-19 pandemic, the revised calendar is scheduled to visit 4 states over 4 rounds. Sandown last held a round of the Australian Formula 3 Championship in 2015 when it again hosted the opening round of the season.

The opening round of the 2020 Championship is currently scheduled for August 28th-30th, though that is pending the Victorian border restrictions due to Covid. Both the Australian Motor Racing Series manager Matt Baragwanath and Australian Formula 3 Championship category manager Ian Richards are in regular communication surrounding this year’s championship dates.

“We are happy to be going back to Sandown Raceway in 2020.” Richards said. “We are monitoring the situation in Victoria very closely and even if the border restrictions do not allow an August date, we would be hopeful to get back to the iconic Sandown Raceway later in the year once the current climate allows.”

The original Sydney Motor Park round in September now becomes round 2 with Queensland Raceway slotting in on October 23rd-25th. The Bend Motorsport Park will finish the season in December.
