R-Tek Motorsport’s John Magro is going into the second round of the Australian Formula 3 Championship at Morgan Park on a high as the championship leader and driver to beat. Magro in his newly developed R-Tek Motorsport Dallara F311 is chasing back to back round victories this weekend.

Magro had the perfect weekend at the opening round of the Formula 3 Championship at Winton Motor Raceway taking away maximum points from the round. “ It was a really good near perfect weekend,” Magro said. “ We were fastest in practice, fastest in qualifying, won all three races and set a new lap record for the Formula 3 class as well as setting the fastest ever lap around the Winton circuit. The R-Tek car was in the window and working really well”.

Magro had competed at only certain rounds in the 2017 and 2018, but in 2019 Magro is looking to compete in all rounds with the clear goal to win the championship with the newfound backing from major sponsor Nu-edge Solutions. “We have competed in one-off rounds in the last few years but we have never been able to put together a package for the whole season the last few years. In 2019 we look to have the package available thanks to the support from Nu-edge Solutions and with the R-Tek Motorsport team I will be chasing the Australian Formula 3 Championship”.

Magro will be going into Morgan Park with confidence as it is a track the championship leader has had success at before. “Morgan Park has been kind to me over the years. I used to hold the lap record for the circuit until the newer spec cars came in and this is a record I would like to get back this weekend” Magro said.

Magro noted his biggest challenges were going to come from his key rivals in the opening round. “Peasey and Buchan were quick in the Gilmour Racing cars at Winton and they will be looking to bounce back, they are a strong team with two strong drivers and I will have my work cut out this weekend”. The Formula 3 action will kick off in qualifying on Saturday morning at Morgan Park, just outside Warwick in Queensland where the championship will reignite the points battle.
