Formula 3 powerhouse team McDonalds Gilmour Racing is looking to fight back in the Australian Formula 3 Championship at the second round at Morgan Park Raceway in Warwick, Queensland this weekend. After a double podium finish for the team in round one at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria, the team is looking to go one step better at the second round aiming for race wins and a potential round win.

The McDonalds Gilmour Racing Team will retain it's round one drivers in Richard Peasey and Josh Buchan who are both looking for their first race and round wins of the season. Team principal Errol Gilmour noted round one was a great result but knows there is work to do to catch round one winner John Magro from R-Tek Motorsport. “Round one was a good result, a double podium position is a great result for the McDonalds Toowomba Formula 3 cars,” Gilmour said. “John was super quick and we didn't have an answer for him at the opening round. We have had a good break between rounds and are looking to go for the win this time out”.

Peasey led the charge for the team coming home with a second and two thirds to come home second overall for the round. Buchan struck trouble in race 2 but in other two came home in second, claiming third overall for the round. Buchan noted that they felt just as quick but couldn’t maintain their speed as much as Magro could. “The cars were great at the opening round and to land a double podium on the first weekend of the year was a great result,” Buchan said. “We were quick at stages but just couldn’t maintain it as much as John could and that is something we have worked on coming into this weekend at Morgan Park”.

This weekend the McDonalds Gilmour Racing team is looking to build on their double podium at the first round and are aiming to get their championship chances back on track in their home state. Buchan believes the cars have plenty of pace and the McDonalds Gilmour team have the cars working well and that it was more down to the drivers this weekend. “The cars are great and driving well and we have every chance to win with the package we have going into the weekend. We are aiming for victories this weekend and noting less in my mind, we will have work to do”. Qualifying will commence on Saturday morning at the Morgan Park circuit in preparation of what promises to be an action packed second round of the Australian Formula 3 Championship.
