Jones Motorsport's Harri Jones is the Champion of the 2018 Australian Formula 3 Premier Series. Jone took victory in Races 1 and 2 before a calculated drive in the feature race finishing 2nd to claim the title.

It is Jones' first full year in the category after winning the City of Goulburn Cup in his first Formula 3 outing last year.

"Unbelievable, I'm so stoked for this season, I can't thank the team enough. Australian Formula 3 has been amazing and has developed me as a drive, I have learnt so much."

Earlier in the weekend McDonald's Gilmour Racing's Cameron Shields took the final All Properties Group Pole Position award 3 tenths ahead of Jones. R-Tek Motorsport's big hope John Magro was out for the weekend before qualifying after discovering an engine problem during the morning warm up.

Jones took first blood by winning race 1 jumping Shields at the start. Shields appears to have the quicker car though smashing the outright lap record previously set by David Reynolds in a GT by 6 seconds! McAlpine Racing's Ross McAlpine was further back.

In the National class Wilson Team Racing's Shane Wilson jumped Ruff Racing's Gerrit Ruff at the start with R-Tek Motorsport duo Andrew Roberts and Roman Krumins close behind. Roberts had a big spin though exiting the final corner. Krumins came in for 3rd in class with Roberts recovering for 4th. This was enough for Krumins to seal the National Class Title.

Going into race 2 the Premier Class title was still up for grabs though and again it was Jones who won the start and held on till the chequered flag, Shields again got the fastest lap bonus point though resulting in a 10 point deficit leading into the final race. In the National Class it was Krumins who took the win ahead of Wilson, Roberts and Ruff.

For Jones it was simple, finish the feature race and he would be champion. Shields won the start and held on for the win as Jones appeared content to take 2nd and the points necessary to seal the title.

Krumins again got the better of Wilson with Ruff 3rd and Roberts 4th. Wilson would later be excluded from the weekend by the stewards after an altercation in Parc Ferme. This promted Roberts to 2nd for the National Class Series.

The 2018 Australian Formula 3Premier Series has been another close battle with the title going right down to the final race. The series continues to provide drivers with the skills necessary to further their careers with 3 drivers looking at competing overseas next year.

Announcements regarding the 2019 Australian Formula 3 Championship will be announced soon.
