The 2017 Australian Formula 3 Premier Series may be decided in both the Premier and National classes, but there is still going to be plenty of interest in the final round at Wakefield Park for the City of Goulburn Cup.

A welcome return to the field for the final round is John Magro, who will return to the R-Tek Motorsport Services team for the first time since 2010 where he was runner-up. Magro will be stepping into the Dallara F308 that Roland Legge drove to multiple round wins. “I'm really looking forward to driving R-Tek's latest model F308. I haven't driven the latest spec Aus F3 car so it'll be a new challenge getting the most out of the extra downforce.” Magro said.

Magro contested the opening three rounds with reigning champions Alpine Motorsports where he was leading the series, but sat out the past two rounds after the birth of his daughter. “I’d like to thank Alpine for their efforts at the start of the season. If it wasn't for Dennie and the team I wouldn't have been at the first 3 rounds.”

With the title decided Magro will be keen to add the City of Goulburn Cup to his trophy cabinet as well as consolidating his current 2nd place in the standings. “R-Tek are a great team and I'm looking forward to working with them.”

Magro is hoping to do the full series next year to try to get that elusive Australian Formula 3 title. “Formula 3 is an integral category in Australian motorsport, I'm on the market for next year, I have a missed call from Toto Wolff!”.

The largest field of Formula 3 seen for the past few years is expected at Wakefield Park on the 20th-22nd October, with a number of new drivers set to taste the premier open-wheel category in the country for the first time.
