This weekend will see the Australian Formula 3 Premier Series mid-season break come to an end as the teams start the trek to Phillip Island for round 4.

Alpine Motorsports John Magro currently leads the series by 11 points from Gilmour Racing’s young sensation Calan Williams, Gilmour’s other driver Chris Gilmour lies fourth behind the consistent Nathan Kumar from R-Tek Motorsport.

The big story of the weekend is the possibly absent series leader Magro, who after the birth of his baby daughter this week may be on daddy duties. With 48 points on offer for a perfect round, Williams, fresh back from his trip to Europe to visit Fortec Motorsport may have the opportunity to turn an 11-point deficit into a handy lead with 2 rounds remaining after this weekend’s event at the Island. The other big question is ‘who will be driving for the Alpine Motorsports team?’ with the team still making the trip south.

In the National class, R-Tek Motorsport’s Roman Krumins will be keen to keep his perfect scorecard going. Krumins currently leads Wilson Team Racing’s Shane Wilson by 47 points. R-Tek’s other driver, South Australian Andrew Roberts will be making his 2nd appearance for the year and his first time on Phillip Island’s hallowed tarmac.

The teams will have a much more compact timetable this weekend with no running on the Friday. Practice and Qualifying will take place on Saturday with the 3 races to be run Sunday.
